Canada beginning to test privatized health care
Long seen as being on the vanguard of socialized medicine, Canada is now testing the waters with privatized health care. In a recent Washington Times article Gregory Lopes comments:
"The U.S. system, considerably more costly and innovative, stands in sharp contrast to its Canadian counterpart in many ways. The Canadian system's universal coverage with its lower costs and its public, nonprofit administration has been a subject of fascination to many Americans."
But where does the fascination end? Perhaps when Americans learn that, "The average wait time between a referral by a physician and an appointment with a neurosurgeon can take as long as 21 weeks."
With Canada slowly beginning to realize the inefficiency of its own version of universal healthcare, perhaps its a good time for America to become a bit more vigilant on the realities of such a utopian plan.
