Americans are the most charitable in the world

Americans gave $295B to charity in 2006, while the "religious" and lower income brackets outpaced others in giving of their time and talents.  MORE.

Americans are the most generous people in the world, but maybe they should be. As Louis Blanc was the first to claim "From each according to his ability, to each according to his need." This was A Christian principle first applied after Pentecost.
Americans should give most, because they have most. I don't suppose the British per capita etc give more, but it would be nice if the article would at least mention them.

American Christians should not take pride in their charity. See Luke 17.10 "We are unprofitable servants - we have only done what is our duty."
