The realities of Ethanol
Obama is a big supporter of Ethanol. His energy plan would outlaw new cars that can’t run high-ethanol blends. Ethanol has been shown to drive up food prices, exhaust water supplies, exacerbate smog and drive up gasoline prices. It takes the energy equivalent of four gallons of ethanol to farm, ship and process just five gallons of ethanol.
In 2007 Federal and state subsidies totaling between $6.3-$8.7 billion amounted to about $9.00 in subsidies per gallon of ethanol produced. Congress has since doubled the ethanol mandate with Obama voting for the bill.Be the first to comment on this article.
