Safe Water for Malawi
Safe water is life, yet more than one billion people have no access. Twenty five million die each year from water-borne diseases. It’s worth seeking a solution.
Partnering with Rotary International in Kenya and Water Missions International in Malawi, new water purification systems are now in place to service several communities. The Malawi project, pictured, was installed February 2009 at the Child Legacy International Health Clinic. Days later a mobile version of the purification system made its way to a community of 20,000 where cholera had recently taken the lives of 17 people and 58 others were afflicted and recovered from the disease.
Local staff and engineers are trained to provide ongoing maintenance of the solar powered systems.

I learned about Foster Friess from Mr. Stan Burtt of Water Mission who has very recently installed a water purification unit for the Kaseye Water Project in Chitipa district (northern Malawi) through the Foster Friess Foundation. The Kaseye water project was funded through the US Ambassador’s Self-Help Program. I am so personally touched by the pathetic water situation and abject poverty in Malawi that I am designing a sustainable water scheme for the country. I will happily share my methodology and suggestions with your Foundation soonest.
