Safe Water for Malawi: A Visit of HOPE – Update Two
Inspired by the ongoing dedication of Water Missions International’s (WMI) worldwide safe water projects, Lynn and Foster Friess visited Malawi in August 2009 for a first-hand look at the Friess Family Foundation’s water purification units. The joy, optimism, and welcoming that Lynn and Foster experienced when meeting the local villagers was immeasurable, as is their need for safe, clean water. Malawi is often overlooked by non-profits, and the locals welcomed these caring strangers with love. The Foundation is grateful for WMI’s long-term commitment to the people of Malawi, which allows us to participate in projects based on studied and predetermined needs.
During the visit, Foster spoke to a group of 100 Pastors assembled by Pastor Joseph Kazembe, head of Citizens Development Network, in the capital city Lilongwe. Pastor Joseph called for renewed commitment and planning to leverage this fresh start. A new leadership group is now in place to plan a better future for the people.
At Chitipa, a remote area in the north, Lynn and Foster met Father John Moyo, the kind and generous director of the Kaseye Girls School. Willow Creek Church and WMI welcomed the Friess Foundation to participate in their ongoing safe water programs for this area and school. A broader phase of development is planned for the Kaseye Mission, School and community. Additionally, the local Calvary Chapel helped pave the way for our combined participation for water purification units in the community of Mphonde, near Lilongwe.
A single idea is transformed into a large-scale partnership with multiple participants promoting Galatians 6:2; when we carry other’s burdens, we fulfill the law of Christ.
Sustainable safe water is the foundation for better health, education and tomorrow’s prosperity. To learn more about these efforts or to join us, please email Ed Bartolini who is coordinating the Foundation’s efforts with WMI and various on the ground partners.

Citizen Development Network is happy with the initiative of Fosters family but we encourage him and his administration to follow up these initiatives.

Respect for life doesn't end at the womb, it only begins there. The Friess Family Foundation lays pioneering groundwork for an expanded understanding of that very principle.
What better example of tending to the environment than providing a community with clean water and responding to the call to be stewards of the earth?
