As someone who's been in a similar situation, everybody knows that family dynamics can be very interesting. If every celebrity, or millionnaire private citizen recognized every single member of their family who finally recognizes their celebrity or their money, they'd go broke just trying to satisfy the greed that comes with these types of situation. Personally our family is not wealthy, but I come from such a family that each man or woman is for themselves. I don't think this is such a strange phenomenon, and I'm sure you have people in your family on either side that may not have as much as you and who you choose to pass on.
