Autistic team manager stuns crowd with six three pointers in first ever basketball game

Watch J-Mac's Story

Jason McElwain, or J-Mac as he’s known to his friends, was the student manager of the varsity boys basketball team at Greece Athena High School in upstate New York. In a story akin to that of Rudy, Jason never played a game for his team. But that didn’t deter his dedication and commitment to the team.

You see, J-Mac was a bit different from the rest of the teammates… he was autistic. But, on February 16, 2006, on the last game of his senior year, his coach decided to pay tribute to J-Mac and the team wanted to show their gratitude by putting J-Mac in for the final minutes of the game.

What happened next shocked the world and made Jason an overnight hero. Not only did J-Mac get to play in his first-ever high school basketball game, but he went on a spectacular scoring spree that saw him score 26 points in just 4 minutes!!

Truly inspiring! I just dont know what to think about autism. There HAS to be a reason for it that they are missing. I have several close friends who have at least 1 child (some 2) diagnosed with it. These kids are between 5-9 years old. What happened? It is suspected that immunization shots have something to do with it, but could it be more? Could it maybe be birth control pills or something given to the mothers during pregnancy??? It is way too widespread to be 'just nature'. My heart goes out to these families who have become victims of something silent....
