I.S.L.A.M.
The Islamic Society for Liberty and Modernity (I.S.L.A.M.) provides a fresh, yet theologically valid interpretation of the Holy Quran and other Islamic texts using the traditional concept of Ijtihad (extrapolating meaning from scripture). Authoritative Islamic scholars describe Ijtihad as: "the heart of the religion...whoever destroys it, is like one who destroys the religion [Islam] itself; and whoever enlivens it, enlivens the religion in its entirety." I.S.L.A.M’s goal is to revive Islam, save it from anachronistic interpretations, and make it suitable to every time and place, according to the words of prophet Mohamed (PBUH).
