Lawyers dominate Congress, do we need more business people?
"We don't have enough entrepreneurs and people with a business background who understand the impact of taxes and regulations on creating jobs," says Congressional challenger Jim Oberweis of Illinois. CNN Money profiles 11 entrepreneurs running for office. While only 1 in 300 people in the U.S. is a lawyer, more than 40% of Congress list their occupation as “law", another 37% list “public service/politics” (members often list more than one profession). Some trial lawyers have suggested class action litigation over the financial meltdown… but they can’t figure out who to sue! We can’t litigate our way out of our problems, only innovation and economic growth will save the economy.
