How likely is it US Arizona Senator Jon Kyl is lying about President Obama's statement that he did not want to seal the border because then Republicans wouldn't support overall immigration reform?

Here is a (1 min 35 sec) segment of Senator Jon Kyl's remarks at a recent town hall meeting.

I invited Arizona Senator Jon Kyl to speak at a gathering in Jackson Hole, Wyoming on national security issues in August of 2008 and offered to buy him First Class round trip tickets.  He said a coach ticket would do.  He then went on to duly report it to the Senate Ethics Committee and on his official travel disclosure report.

During the event, we had to transport Senator Kyl from breakfast meetings to a location downstream where he could deliver additional remarks.  Most attendees went by boat, but Senator Kyl refused as he thought some people might consider it more recreational than functional.  His own security detail drove him instead
– need I say, limo's ain't part of our Wyoming culture!

When we tried to buy him some aftershave lotion – since he had forgotten his – he insisted on reimbursing us.  He said the leather binder holding the materials for the event – similar to the one that was distributed to all other 56 attendees – was too expensive, so he took out the materials and returned the binder.  Now most people believe “an honest politician” is an oxymoron and no such animal exists.  Senator Jon Kyl is the exception:  a truly honest, upstanding individual.

Senator Kyl's spokesman, Ryan Patmintra said the senator stands by his remarks. He said the White House position "that we must have comprehensive immigration reform to secure the border only confirms Sen. Kyl's account."

In the above (1 min 52 sec) video, White House spokesman Bill Burton, when translating  "D.C. speak" into "Wyoming straight talk" is essentially saying the President of the United States is calling Senator Kyl a liar.  It is a sad day for our country when someone of such impeccable ethics, integrity and honestly and a man who possesses such a high profile in the leadership of our country's government, such as Senator Kyl, is so deemed.

Keep in mind the term "illegal immigrants" really should be "undocumented Democrats!"

When the term "comprehensive immigration reform" is used, it is "D.C. speak" code for obtaining voting rights for all of the illegals currently here.

I hope the Tea Party movement rallies behind the principle, "NO discussion! NO meetings! NO studies! No hearings! NADA!...about comprehensive immigration reform until the border is secured PERIOD!"

Dear jsb95003,
Thank you for your interest and response. We have all earned our cynicism spurs by our experience with government, especially recently. The irony is that Pres. Obama's purported comments to Sen. Kyl are somewhat well known as the Administration's fall-back position. They desire the 'immigration reform' package and that will take a lot of negotiating room. Border security is a big chip.

I spoke in defense of Sen. Kyl out of my personal experience with him. The good news is that in a conversation about 'undocumented' and 'illegal immigrants' we can 'document' Sen. Kyl's honesty and impeccable ethics.

Glad you are tuned in. Keep on seeking Truth, Beauty and Goodness. I'm with you.

they're politicians, I don't need to say more, but they pander & avoid agreeing on basis-facts.
Last line is a laugh. Your privileged enough to have seen the mtns, desert, water, & ports - there is no way to make them secure against determined invaders (thou I'll concede AZ may be onto something with actual enforcement and public shaming employers). Gotta play ball in the political sausage factory. world is full of interesting hard-to-explain phenomena - keeps me seeking Truth, Beauty and Goodness with more parsimonious explanations of reality. v. Fox news drivel/obfuscation.
