As Feds challenge Arizona’s immigration law 17 other states have introduced similar bills this year

Segmenting the field by those who have already taken strong steps against illegal immigration, the favorites for passing a similar law are Oklahoma, South Carolina and Utah.

Despite the long list of charges presented by the Department of Justice against Arizona, a number of other states will introduce comparable bills which will also address transporting, sheltering and knowingly employing illegal immigrants. Oklahoma has taken the lead in such measures.

State Representative Randy Terrill noted that an alleged Mexican drug cartel member had been arrested last week in Oklahoma, pointing out that an Arizona-type law or more is needed. Terrill said the effect of Arizona's law has been to push illegal immigrants toward Oklahoma. As a result Oklahoma blocks illegals from obtaining driver’s licenses and further measures are proposed.
